I Will Protect Victims of Human Trafficking

“Teddy Kapur will advocate for vulnerable members of our community, victims, everyday people, and small businesses that are too often overlooked.  I endorse him for City Attorney.”
– Chanchanit (Chancee) Martorell, Executive Director of Thai CDC (for affiliation purpose only)

California is one of the largest sites of human trafficking in the United States.

Chancee Martorell, Executive Director of Thai Community Development Center, and I co-wrote an Op-Ed in CityWatch Los Angeles about this tragedy.

Last month Thai CDC was recognized with the Presidential Award for Extraordinary Efforts to Combat Trafficking in Persons. Thai CDC played a leading role in the passage of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act and has advocated for survivors for over 25 years.

The City Attorney’s office has a Sex and Labor Trafficking Unit. As City Attorney, I will collaborate with Thai CDC, Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (“CAST”), and other agencies to bring perpetrators to justice.

To ask for help or report a tip in LA County, call CAST’s hotline at 888-539-2373. For services outside of Los Angeles, call the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 888-373-7888.

Together we can end this crime and improve the quality of life for everyone.
